Tennessee History for Kids is holding fall retreats in all three Grand Divisions!
The East Tennessee event took place on Wednesday, October 2, at the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site in Greeneville. (It was a great event; see photo on the right!)
The Middle Tennessee fall retreat will occur on Wednesday, October 16, at the Carnton Plantation/Carter House in Franklin.
The West Tennessee event will take place on Wednesday, October 30, at the Discovery Center of America in Union City.
Each event will run from 8:30 to 3:30 (local time). Each retreat will feature fascinating standards-based presentations on Tennessee's statehood era; newspaper advertising and slavery in Tennessee; the Civil War in the Volunteer State; the passage of the suffrage amendment and the Civil Rights Movement in Tennessee.
Each will also include a detailed tour of the venue at which it is being held.
The events target teachers in grades 4, 5, 8 and 11. All teachers who attend will receive a certificate showing six hours of professional development as well as sample Tennessee History for Kids booklets.
Registration is only $25 per teacher, and includes lunch!
See you there!
