Photos of
the Year
2008

It's been a great year for Tennessee History for Kids! We've been all over the place, met quite a few interesting people and done some unusual things in our attempt to learn more about the Volunteer State and its history. Click here to see what we believe are our best 10 photographs of 2008.

Arthur J. Dyer
PHOTO: Art Dyer Collection
Arthur J. Dyer was an important citizen in Nashville from about the turn of the century (1900) until his death in 1951. He was the founder and president of the Nashville Bridge Company, which made steel bridges and barges just across the Cumberland River from downtown Nashville. Mr. Dyer also liked to take photographs. And thanks to his  grandson, A.J. "Jim" Dyer III of McMinnville, we have been given access to several of the photos that Mr. Dyer took between about 1905 and 1920.

Unfortunately we know very little about these photographs, such as where most of them were taken or who is in them. If you think you know more about any of these pictures, please email me here.
