Old Photo Gallery.. "Mr. Dyer's people"



Here's a different bridge, and a different town, and I'm guessing a different day of the week.

There are 15 people in this photograph, and they represent an interesting cross section of life in the South at that time (I'm guessing about 1910). Not a single person is smiling. In fact, I've noticed something about old pictures. People don't smile in photographs very much.

A couple of other things about this photograph:

* The bridge appears to have been built main for foot traffic or for horse and buggy. There doesn't appear to be any sign of the automobile yet.
* The boy isn't wearing shoes
* Eleven grown men in the picture -- all of them wearing hats!
