The Parthenon in Nashville
Sixth graders in Tennessee focus on world history (prehistory; Mesopotamia; ancient Egypt, China and India; Greece, etc).
It is not a year where students are supposed to learn a lot about Tennessee. We are OK with that (assuming they learn about Tennessee in the other grades, of course!).
In any case, there is at least one wonderful place in Tennessee where students can learn a LOT of the material required in the sixth grade social studies standards. Nashville contains a full-sized replica of the Greek Parthenon. Inside the Parthenon you will find (among other things) reproductions of hundreds of Greek statues and what effectively amounts to a wonderful museum of Greek culture.
Every sixth grade student in the state should try to visit the Parthenon.
