He was–among other things–a storyteller, author, settler, bear hunter, state legislator, soldier and a U.S. Congressman.
David Crockett is also one of the most famous people to ever come from Tennessee.
There are many books about Crockett, dozens of historic markers honoring him across Tennessee, and two state parks named for him. But the stories about Crockett are not always true.
There is a lot of misinformation about the man–starting with his first name.
