Are there teacher’s guides?

There are free, online teacher’s guides that contain teaching tips; information; helpful links; larger versions of illustrations, photographs and maps; and more.

The online teacher’s guides do not contain the answers to the questions found in the workbooks. To get those, email orders@tnhistoryforkids.org from your school email address. Tell us your name, school and what title you are using. We will send teachers (but not students) a pdf of the answers.

What do the workbooks cover?

Workbooks for grades 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 cover ALL the social studies standards for those grades. (For instance: Three Grand Divisions of Tennessee for first grade; the Star-Spangled Banner for second; latitude and longitude for third; early U.S. history for fourth; Tennessee history for fifth.)

Curriculum workbooks for grades 8 and 11 cover all of the Tennessee-specific topics which the standards require teachers to cover, but which are probably not discussed in nationally published textbook (the Lost State of Franklin; the Battle of Shiloh; the Tennessee Constitutions of 1796, 1834 and 1870; the Civil Rights movement in Tennessee, etc.)

Why are you transitioning from 2019 editions to 2027 editions?

The “2019 editions” were set up to meet the 2019 social studies standards. The “2027 editions” are being written and created to meet the 2027 social studies standards.

(As you may know, the geography standards that WERE in third grade in the 2019 standards are being moved to the fifth grade in the 2027 standards. That change required some US history to slide from fourth grade to third grade and from fifth grade to fourth grade.)

Tennessee History for Kids has already mass produced several of the 2027 editions, including all 3 third grade titles; Long March to Tennessee (a fifth grade title); and Don’t Keep Them in Doubt (the 11th grade title.) Although we have produced a small number of the other 2027 editions, we aren’t selling them yet.

We will “roll out” ALL the 2027 editions in the spring of 2027.

Until then, email us directly if you’d like to purchase copies of the 2027 edition third grade titles.

How much do workbooks cost?

Workbooks currently cost $2.50 each.

We ask you not to make copies of them. After all, at this price, you can buy another one for MUCH cheaper than it costs to copy them (even in black and white, and the booklets are COLOR!)

How can workbooks be purchased?

Information on how to order workbooks can be found HERE, but if you wish to buy 2027 edition third grade workbooks email us directly at orders@tnhistoryforkids.org.
